Risa was born in New York City and went to the same High School as Simon and Garfunkel and the Ramones (Forest Hills High aka Rock and Roll High). She now resides in Manchester, England.
After appearing as a professional actress in the Broadway Cast of Grease as Frenchy, touring as Mae in the number 1 tour of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and doing voices and radio plays (Radio 4, Red Dwarf, Emmerdale and Stuart Little 2) Risa was inspired by KT Tunstall and Nerina Pallot and got out her guitar and starting writing.

Risa has supported Nerina Pallot, Alice Gold, James Apollo and Jess Klein and headlined ‘An Intimate Afternoon with Risa Hall’ at BBC Radio Lancashire. She has also appeared on BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio Nottingham, BBC Radio Cornwall, BBC Radio Merseyside as well as Radio Verulam and Vixen 101. In the USA she is played on WPKN.
